Sustainability

The Standing Committee Sustainability (SCS) is responsible for addressing and delivering on transversal topics referent to sustainability that are present across the gas supply chain. The Committee covers subjects that have or could have an impact on safety, wellbeing, climate and the environment, and anticipates and identifies key challenges in the field of sustainability.

The SCS integrates the acceptance of new gases in its work plan and develops contents taking into account how these will impact the sustainability of the network.

The SCS collects industry data and views related to environment, health and safety as well as data referent to the emission of methane and new gases, in view of supporting studies and policy proposals, and thus contributing to solving sustainability challenges which may affect installations and operations of gas supply and utilisation.

The SCS has been very active in the field of emissions, in particular conducting work on methane emissions. Under its work, the Committee contributes to the Industrial Emissions Directive Article 13 Forum and actively supports to the development and review of best reference available technics (BREF) relevant to the gas sector.
