Carbon Capture Europe Summit 2025

Carbon Capture, Utilisation, and Storage (CCUS) is a key component of Europe’s plan to reach net-zero CO2 emissions by 2050. According to the EU Industry Carbon Management Strategy, CCUS plays a crucial role in reducing emissions from sectors such as steel, cement, power, and chemicals, which are difficult to decarbonize. The EU aims to capture at least 50 million tonnes (Mt) of CO2 per year by 2030, with targets increasing to 280 Mt by 2040 and 450 Mt by 2050. There are currently more than 130 CCUS projects in development across several European countries, including the Netherlands, Norway, Denmark, Belgium, France, and Germany. Expanding these efforts will require supportive policies, investments, and the development of the industry’s full value chain.

The Carbon Capture Europe Summit 2025 (#CCES2025) will take place on 29-30 April at the KIT Royal Tropical Institute in Amsterdam. The event will bring together more than 450 senior representatives from government, industry, and finance to discuss EU priorities related to CCUS. Key topics will include regulatory policies, technological advancements, and investment approaches to support Europe’s transition to lower carbon emissions.
