By providing science-based and evidence-driven insights, MARCOGAZ continues to play a distinctive role in the European gas and energy landscape. The Association’s work is guided by the needs of its members and grounded in the exchange of technical expertise to support safe, efficient, and sustainable energy systems.
The Annual Report 2024–2025 presents a comprehensive overview of MARCOGAZ’s governance, activities, and technical work during the reporting period. It highlights how the Association contributed to discussions on key topics including hydrogen and biomethane integration, gas quality, safety, infrastructure adaptation, and methane-emission reduction.
Over the past two years, MARCOGAZ delivered 15 technical studies and reports, alongside 2 position papers / joint statements and 2 formal responses to European Commission consultations. These contributions provided structured technical input to regulatory and standardisation processes at European level, ensuring that operational realities, safety requirements, and system interoperability remain central to policy development.
With 30 member organisations across 21 European countries, MARCOGAZ connects a wide network of experts active in the midstream, downstream, and end-use segments of natural gas and renewable and low-carbon gases. The Association continues to support the integration of hydrogen, biomethane, and other innovative gases into existing infrastructures, while maintaining high standards of safety, environmental performance, and energy efficiency.
As Europe’s energy transition increasingly moves from ambition to implementation, MARCOGAZ remains committed to fostering technical excellence, collaboration, and constructive engagement with European institutions, standardisation bodies, and stakeholders. Through its coordinated technical work, the Association contributes factual insights that support reliable standards, robust regulation, and a secure and sustainable energy future.
MARCOGAZ would like to sincerely thank its members, experts, and partners for their active engagement and valuable contributions throughout 2024 and 2025. Their commitment and expertise are the foundation of the Association’s work and continued impact at European level.
